Cross Country - Coed Varsity
Augusta XC Competes in Run for the Water Barrel

On Thursday, September 28, the Augusta cross country teams traveled to Lykins Park in Winchester to compete in the Run for the Water Barrel.  Lykins Park will serve as the course for the Region 5A Championship this year.

In the boys’ varsity race, David Reed finished in 19:34, Adam Sallee in 20:37, Conner Snapp in 20:40, Seth Fouts in 20:43, and Stephen Cordle in 34:00.  Snappp and Fouts set new personal records.  In the girls’ varsity race, Emma Young medaled, placing 18th and finishing in 22:17.

“If possible, we always like to compete on the course that is going to host the Region,” Coach Tim Litteral said.  “We’ve been here three or four times, but it had been a couple of years since we’d ran here.  This biggest goal today was for them to get a feel for the course and determine a strategy for how to improve when they come back here in October.  It was a plus that Conner and Seth ran personal bests today, and Emma finished in the top 20.”

The middle school race was a 2.5K (1.55 miles), a little shorter than the typical distance ran.  Grayson Miller finished 17th in 11:50, Joshua Bex in 12:54, Eli Cline in 13:52, Will Kelsch in 13:55, and Jesse Johnson in 14:29.  In the girls’ race, Madisonn Wenz finished 20th, running 13:25.
