Augusta Athletes Set Personal Records at Bourbon County

This past Saturday, the Augusta track and field team competed at the Bourbon County Colonel Relays in Paris.

In the 100M dash for the boys, Jushod Commodore finished in 12.66 seconds.  For the girls, Violet Hiles ran 15.66, Maddie Whiteman 15.98, and Madison Kelsch 16.39 seconds.

In the girls’ 200M dash, Violet Hiles ran 33.11 and Maddie Whiteman ran 33.20 seconds.  Hiles also competed in the 400M, setting a new personal record (PR) of 1:16.90.  It was Hiles’ first time running the 400 this season.

Seth Fouts ran a new personal best in the 800M run, finishing in 2:29.81.

In the 1600M run, Conner Snapp set a new PR of 5:31, while Adam Sallee also set a PR of 5:55.  Both individuals also ran and set new personal bests in the 3200M run.  Snapp ran the 2-miles in 12:22, while Sallee finished in 12:26.

Seth Fouts competed in the shot put, throwing 25 feet, 10 inches.  John Paul Cordle threw 22 feet, 10.5 inches, a personal best.

In the boys’ long jump, Jushod Commodore jumped 15 feet, 2 inches, while Fouts jumped 14 feet, 7 inches.  For the girls, Madison Kelsch set a new personal best 11 feet, 2.25 inches.

“We had several athletes set new personal bests, so it’s always good to see improvement,” Coach Tim Litteral said.  “Conner probably had the biggest day.  He knocked 16 seconds of his 1600 and 28 seconds off of his 3200.  It was also encouraging to see Seth get sub 2:30 in the 800.”
